Good footing and traction are necessary, such as a yoga mat or carpet. The size of the ball or peanut should be based on the size of the dog and should encourage some weight shifting to the forelimbs. Generally two people are needed for this exercise if the dog is large. Raise the dog’s hind limbs so that they rest on the ball or peanut in a comfortable position. The ball or peanut may be rolled forward and backward and side to side to encourage forelimb movement.
