“Place the dog in a comfortable position on its side. Position yourself between the front and back limbs.
For carpal flexion, place the upper hand on the lower portion of the forearm. Place the other hand on the front portion of the foot. Be certain that the carpus is supported to avoid any undue stress to the joint.
Slowly and gently flex the carpus. The other joints of the limb should remain in a neutral position. Try not to move the other joints while working on the affected joint. Continue to flex the joint until the patient shows initial signs of discomfort, such as tensing the muscles, moving, turning the head toward you, or trying to pull away, but do not cause undue discomfort.”
